The Vision for Art & Design at Manorfield

At Manorfield, children will master the use of a wide-range of art and design techniques and mediums, working alongside experienced artists and skilled professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills in art and of how art and design both reflect and shape our history.

Children will have a rich range of art and design experiences including visits to a range of high quality galleries and museums, in order to deepen their appreciation and critical thinking around art and design and artists and designers.

Children will have opportunities to produce high quality art, with a progression of skills documented to show their art journey throughout their time at Manorfield.

Children will leave Manorfield with a sense of passion and curiosity for art and design, equipped to continue their art and design journey in secondary school and beyond.

As part of our Manorfield Art Curriculum, each year group creates sketchbooks to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas. This enables children to reflect and observe progress in order to achieve mastery of art and design techniques.

At Manorfield, children benefit from producing work in our bespoke studio being taught by our Artist in Residence, Mr Mathieson.

Art and Design nurture groups also take place in the studio which offer children the opportunity to develop social skills, confidence or build friendships. Children are supported to express their ideas and feelings through art in a nurturing, supportive environment.
