February

It's still winter time and a bit chilly, but the days are beginning to get a little longer so it's time to think about sowing seeds. Keep them indoors for now.

Top tips

In seed trays or pots, sow these seeds and keep them undercover until the weather warms next month.

  • peas
  • winter salads & oriental greens (mizuna, mibuna, mustard greens, pak choi, mispooona, komatsuna)

In seeds trays or pots sow these seeds and keep them on the windowsill until they have germinated. Then move them out to a cold frame or unheated covered area.

  • onions
  • tomatoes
  • peppers
  • aubergines
  • early carrot

Remember to top up bird feeders, as the forage for birds is still limited at this time of year.
