Disney Musicals in Schools Programme
Manorfield Primary School will be one of the five London Schools to take part in the Disney Musicals in Schools programme!
We are delighted to announce an exciting new collaboration with Eastside Educational Trust and Disney. We will be working with Eastside Educational Trust to introduce the Disney Musicals in Schools programme to our school, students and wider community! We are one of five London primary schools that have been selected to take part in the programme, which will begin in October 2018 and run until March 2019.
Eastside’s Disney Musicals in Schools, delivered by musical theatre professionals, gives London teachers the support and development necessary to produce their own musicals and embed a theatre arts programme within their schools that will continue for years to come. Our children will be given the opportunities to strengthen their skills in acting, singing, dancing as well as working backstage. In addition, it will allow them to develop presentation, communication and collaboration skills.
The 17-week programme will culminate in a Disney KIDS production, a 30-minute musical designed for primary schools and adapted from a classic Disney film. We will be choosing from well-known titles such as The Lion King, Aladdin, The Aristocats and The Jungle Book. The young performers will get the unique opportunity to showcase their work on stage at the Lyceum Theatre, home of Disney’s The Lion King in the West End in March 2019.
Our headteacher, Paul Jackson, comments, “This is a fantastic opportunity for our children and staff. We are incredibly excited about working alongside specialist musical theatre professionals to create an amazing experience for the children and community at Manorfield.”
Matt Lane, CEO and Artistic Director of Eastside comments: “Eastside are excited to be working in partnership with Disney to support the children and teachers of Manorfield Primary School to develop their skills to produce their own musical theatre show. This programme delivers joyful opportunities to young performers and school communities, which we hope will develop into a lifelong love of the arts. In the first year of the programme we worked with 282 Children, trained 23 teachers and schools saw audiences of 4,500! Thanks to Disney’s generous support we’re delighted to bring Disney Musicals in Schools to London for the second year running.”
We are looking forward to embarking on our Disney Musicals in Schools journey with Eastside as of October 2018.
