Docklands Sinfonia – Year 3 – Monday 3rd July
Dear Parents/Carers,
Docklands Sinfonia – Year 3 – Monday 3rd July
On Monday 3rd July, Year 3 will be going to a very special concert at Docklands Sinfonia, St Annes Church in Limehouse.
The concert will include the first performances of a brand new piece written especially to introduce children to the orchestra, The Caretaker’s Guide to the Orchestra by Jeremy Holland-Smith. This fresh approachable music will be choreographed by Will Tuckett of the Royal Opera House.
Many children will be familiar with James Mayhew’s books – Katie’s Pictures and Ella Bella Ballerina of which one of his best-selling books is Swan Lake. As Docklands Sinfonia plays, James will narrate and illustrate Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake live on stage. His drawings are projected onto a big screen so that children can watch as his pictures grow and change in time to the music.
To give you a flavour of Docklands Sinfonia’s Children’s Concerts, please have a look at their video - https://vimeo.com/154763024
The concert lasts approximately 1 hour and will be a wonderful opportunity to hear and see great works of music, art and literature performed in a unique way and to hear our local symphony orchestra play live.
We will be leaving school after lunch and will return to school at around 3.30pm. We will be travelling on public transport, and your child will need to wear full school uniform, and comfortable walking shoes. Please sign the form and return asap to give permission for your child to attend this concert.
With best wishes,
