Manorfield Primary School

Safeguarding

Manorfield Primary School is unequivocally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care. We believe that all pupils have the right to learn in a safe, caring, and protective environment and to be free from all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Our approach is founded on our school values of Safety, Kindness, Fairness, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility leading to our school community of pupils, staff and parents Thriving Together

Core Mission

To embed a culture of vigilance where safeguarding is the responsibility of every member of the school community, ensuring that

Safety First: All children are protected from harm, including physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect.
Early Identification: We proactively identify children who may be experiencing or at risk of harm and take timely, appropriate action.
Wellbeing and Development: We promote the health, wellbeing, and positive development of all pupils, fostering resilience and self-esteem.
Our Framework of Compliance

Our arrangements for safeguarding are built upon a robust legal and statutory framework. We strictly adhere to and implement the requirements of all key guidance. For further information please check our Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy.

Vigilant Staff: Ensuring all staff, governors, and volunteers receive regular, high-quality training and understand their personal responsibility for safeguarding.
Robust Procedures: Operating clear, consistent policies for recording and referring concerns swiftly to the appropriate external agencies (Children's Social Care).
Safer Recruitment: Implementing strict recruitment practices that deter, identify, and reject individuals who are unsuitable to work with children.
Partnership Working: Collaborating effectively with parents/carers, statutory services, and local partners to protect children and support families.
It is vital that everyone in our school community knows how to raise a concern about a child's safety or welfare, both inside and outside of school.

Your Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is the central point of contact for all concerns related to children in our school.

What is a Safeguarding Concern?

A concern is anything that makes you believe a child may be at risk of harm. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
  • Neglect (not having basic needs met).
  • Signs of injury or unexplained changes in behaviour.
  • Signs of radicalisation or extremism (Prevent Duty).
  • A child telling you they are being hurt or are scared.

Do not worry about being wrong. It is always better to report a concern than to ignore it. You can make an anonymous referral to Children's Social Care if you prefer.

How to Raise the Concern

Concerns About a Child During School Hours

If you are worried about a child's welfare, safety, or mental health while they are in school, you must report it immediately. You do not need to know all the facts; if you feel something is not right, Say Something.
